WATCH: Father of three outraged over advice his family received amid trans teacher fight
Wake County told a father of three to homeschool if he wants an opt-out. Another speaker asked the board to expel the children of 'bigots.'
Summary
- Fox News reports parents at Middle Creek Elementary in Wake County, North Carolina, asked for notice and an alternative to a music class taught by a transgender teacher after children came home upset, confused, and uncomfortable.
- Aaron Driver, a father of three at the school and a member of Middle Creek Parental Rights, told the Aug. 18 board that families were told public school may not be for them and that they should homeschool or go private after already paying taxes into the system.
- Public commenter Katrina Day proposed a free homeschooling curriculum to 'keep the bigots away from my grandchildren' and suggested the district relocate or expel the children of 'bigots' if needed.
- State Rep. Erin Paré, R-Wake, raised the issue in late July and floated a state law on sex-based professional attire for public-school employees. Parents framed the ask as notice and an opt-out, not a demand to fire the teacher.
Commentary
A dad still packs three lunchboxes on a linoleum counter and trusts the bus more than a board agenda. He is not asking for a sermon. He is asking for a second classroom when a music hour becomes a belief test.
That is the gap. He already paid the levy. The reply was: pay again, or leave. Then a speaker asked the district to move or expel the kids who objected. The teacher stayed the headline. The children became the problem.
Ask every parent who funds that building: if an opt-out is hate, what do you call a public school that only keeps the families who clap?
Comments
Notice plus a second room is manners. 'Homeschool or leave' is a cover charge on a tax bill.
I did not fight so a board could expel kids for their father's sentence. That is not inclusion. That is a purge.
Parents direct upbringing. A music hour is not a loyalty oath. Write the opt-out into the minutes.
Japan does not tell a father to buy a second school because he asked for notice.
Watch the grant shops fund the 'bigot' script. They never packed those three lunches.
I pay the levy on a night wage. I do not have a private-school spare tire.
My first-grader comes home confused and the answer is exile. No. Give me the other classroom.
A state that cannot tell a parent what the teacher is will not tell him the truth about anything else.
Fox printed Driver, Day, Middle Creek, and the Aug. 18 board. Argue those nouns.
Write the notice. Offer the alternative. Stop charging families twice for one music hour.
