VIDEO — Ohio's Republican Senators Want Ban on Illegals Obtaining Driver's Licenses: 'This Insanity Has to Stop'
A Connecticut drive-only card. An Ohio stop sign. Austin Grimes is dead.
Summary
- Breitbart reports Ohio Sens. Jon Husted and Bernie Moreno are pressing to end policies that let illegal immigrants obtain driver's licenses after a crash killed a citizen on an Ohio road.
- Husted wrote Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy and DHS Secretary Markwayne Mullin. Ohio's BMV requires legal presence, but 19 states and Washington, D.C., still issue drive-only licenses without it.
- In August, Washington G. Naula-Ochoa allegedly failed to yield at a Fulton County stop sign and struck another vehicle. Two people were hospitalized. Austin Grimes, 29, was killed. Husted said the suspect was an illegal immigrant who obtained a drive-only license in Connecticut.
- Husted told Duffy and Mullin the drive-only programs are not lapses in judgment but extensions of failed immigration policy. Moreno publicly pressed Connecticut's governor on the same card.
Commentary
A Fulton County night mechanic still wipes diesel off a split knuckle and stares at a stop sign that should have been enough. He did not pay Ohio insurance so a Connecticut drive-only card could outrun a yield.
Nineteen. States. Plus D.C. One. Dead. Twenty-nine. The honest dad already passed the test. The got-away passed a window.
Look every working father who still waits at a four-way in the rain in the eye and answer this: if a drive-only card can kill in Fulton County, who still wants the next one printed?
Comments
Naula-Ochoa. Stop sign. Austin Grimes 29. Connecticut card. That is a funeral, not a courtesy.
I taught a yield so a kid would come home. End drive-only. Do not mail another card.
Husted letter. Duffy. Mullin. 19 states plus D.C. Publish the four.
Allied DMVs still treat legal presence as the first stamp. A drive-only window is a bill.
Fulton County August. Two hospitalized. Moreno to Connecticut. File the jackets.
I still lock a bay smelling grease. I want the next card to require a country, not a smile.
A 29-year-old should not die on a stop-sign road because another state printed a workaround.
A drive-only pipeline is a second border in the glove box. The first funeral should have been enough.
Breitbart printed 19 states, Grimes, Connecticut, and the Husted letter. Argue those nouns.
Kill the drive-only programs. Verify presence. A visitor who cannot stay cannot drive.
