US severs Iran’s ‘financial lifeline’ to NATO ally Turkey with bank sanctions: ‘Find out the hard way’
A NATO-ally bank moved China oil cash to the IRGC. Bessent said find out the hard way.
Summary
- The New York Post reports Treasury on Friday sanctioned Istanbul's Golden Global Bank in the second week of Secretary Scott Bessent's Operation Economic Outcast, aimed at forcing Tehran to a deal or collapse.
- The bank allegedly moved large sums paid by China for Iranian oil and funneled the proceeds to the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps. Sanctioning a financial house inside a NATO ally is an escalation of the squeeze.
- Bessent said financial institutions continue to find out the hard way that Outcast is serious, and that whether more banks are hit depends on how fast the world stops backing the Iranian regime.
- Separate Post reporting this week said Iranian officials told Reuters oil loadings averaged about 250,000 barrels a day in August after 2 million bpd at the March war peak, a seven-week slide, under the U.S. naval blockade and the new sanctions wave.
Commentary
A Jersey refinery hand still tastes sulfur and watches a rack that should not wait on an Istanbul ledger. He did not pull a night hose so China oil cash could feed the IRGC.
Golden Global. China pay. IRGC cut. Two hundred fifty thousand barrels. The honest dad already paid the gallon. The sanction is the first honest wire.
Ask every working father who still budgets a tank: if a NATO-ally bank can be cut for moving Tehran's oil cash, who still wants the next wire left open?
Comments
Golden Global. Istanbul. China oil pay. IRGC. Week two of Outcast. That is a wire map.
I watched a sanctions desk work. A NATO flag is not a hall pass. Cut the pipe.
Bessent Friday. Hard-way line. 250,000 bpd August. 2 million March. Publish the four.
Allied treasuries still treat an IRGC cut as the real target. A quiet bank is not quiet.
Seven-week export slide. Blockade plus the new wave. File the two.
I still pull a hose at 2 a.m. I want Tehran's cash dark, not rerouted through Istanbul.
A school run should not fund a Guard payroll. Keep Outcast on the next bank.
A lifeline through a NATO ally is a second front. The first listing should teach the rest.
Post printed Golden Global, China oil, IRGC, and the hard-way line. Argue those nouns.
Keep listing banks. Keep the blockade. A dry ledger is a peace term.
