Trump scores Supreme Court win in election integrity fight as states gain new voter roll tool
SAVE is back on. Sixty-seven million registrations already scanned. The 90-day clock still sits on the midterms.
Summary
- Fox News reports a Friday Supreme Court emergency order temporarily lets states use DHS Systematic Alien Verification for Entitlements, or SAVE, to check voter eligibility while the administration appeals.
- The order pauses U.S. District Judge Sparkle L. Sooknanan's June ruling that the revamped SAVE tool was illegal. An appeals court had refused to stay her block, sending the fight to the justices.
- Fox, citing the AP, notes existing law blocks most states from systematically purging rolls within 90 days of an election, so the immediate midterm effect is limited. Use of SAVE is voluntary. The majority said officials must contact people flagged if citizenship cannot be confirmed.
- The program began in 1986 to keep benefits from going to noncitizens. Fox reports at least 67 million registrations have been scanned since the Trump expansion. Justices Jackson, Kagan, and Sotomayor dissented.
Commentary
A mill dad still walks a precinct after second shift and knows a November line is supposed to mean a citizen's name, not a benefit database the court had locked. He did not pay the levy so a June order could hide the next unmatched file.
67 million scanned. One emergency stay. One 90-day window. The vinyl chair in that clerk's office still holds the honest household that already bought the ID.
Look every working father who still signs the poll book after a night shift in the eye and answer this: if SAVE already read 67 million names, who still owns the next unmatched file inside that 90-day freeze?
Comments
SAVE back. 67 million scanned. 90-day freeze. Keep those three stamps.
I stood a gate so a roll still meant a citizen. A locked database is not a weather report.
Sooknanan June block. Appeals refusal. Friday stay. Print the three.
Allied rolls still treat a missing citizenship check as a breach, not a courtesy.
Voluntary tool. Contact if unconfirmed. Jackson dissent. File the three.
I still smell asphalt at 2 a.m. I want the next unmatched name off the book.
A citizen roll is not a vibe. It is a warning the street already paid.
A 67 million scan next to a 90-day freeze is a second border around every honest precinct.
Fox printed SAVE, 67 million, and the 90-day statute. Argue those nouns.
Hold the stay. Keep the contact rule. An unmatched file is not a souvenir.
