New Jersey Gov. Mikie Sherrill Takes Heat After Alleged Illegal Fleeing ICE Crashes Into Mayor's Wife
ICE said stop. The Acura ran the light. A mayor's wife hit the Tesla glass.
Summary
- The Daily Caller reports ICE agents ran a targeted stop on an Acura along Route 130 in North Brunswick around 7:30 a.m. on September 2. Township officials told NJ Patch the driver stopped, then fled, blew a red light, and rear-ended a Tesla.
- Behind the Tesla wheel was Dr. Penelope Cohen, wife of East Brunswick Mayor Brad Cohen. She was hospitalized with a leg injury described as not life-threatening. The fleeing man ran on foot, was caught, and is in custody awaiting removal. ICE has not released his name.
- ICE said the illegal alien refused to exit or obey lawful commands. After repeated verbal warnings, officers tried to remove him over safety concerns.
- Gov. Mikie Sherrill signed the Immigrant Trust Directive on March 25, limiting local help on civil immigration work while still allowing criminal enforcement and judicial warrants. Republican Assemblyman Paul Kanitra told Fox the crash fits a line of wrecks that would not happen without sanctuary status. Republican Sen. Mike Testa said counties have been shut out of 287(g).
Commentary
A Route 130 dad still smells brake dust on a morning commute and knows a red light is supposed to mean stop, not a sprint from a federal hold. He did not pay the levy so a mayor's wife would collect glass in a Tesla.
7:30 a.m. Red light. Tesla. March 25 directive. The honest household already paid the insurance. The vinyl chair in that ER still waits.
Look every working father who still drives that highway before a shift in the eye and answer this: if ICE already had the car, who still owns the next red light a sanctuary rule leaves unbacked?
Comments
September 2. Route 130. Tesla. Removal hold. Keep that order.
I stood a line so a stop still meant a stop. A state memo is not a shield.
Sherrill March 25. Kanitra. Testa. 287(g) shutout. Print the four.
Allied highways still treat a federal stop as a stop, not a chase scene.
Name still withheld. In custody. Awaiting removal. File the three.
I still clock a dock at 2 a.m. I want the next Acura emptied at the first command.
A mayor's wife in an ER over a flee is not a talking point. It is a warning the street already paid.
A civil-immigration gag on local cops is a second border around a red light. The first detainer should have been enough.
The Daily Caller printed Route 130, Cohen, and March 25. Argue those nouns. Skip the House member's smear.
Restore 287(g). Honor the stop. A sanctuary memo is not a traffic law.
