Major blue state hospital pulls plug on controversial child transgender treatments after DOJ intervention
Mount Sinai stopped cutting children. The $2 million is for the ones already cut.
Summary
- Fox News reports Mount Sinai, one of New York City's largest hospitals, agreed with the Trump administration to stop sex-reassignment procedures for minors after a Justice Department investigation.
- The hospital's Institute for Advanced Medicine said its providers saw 4,931 transgender and gender-diverse patients in 2025. The count of minors who received hormones or surgeries was not publicly disclosed.
- The deal includes a monetary penalty and requires Mount Sinai to dedicate $2 million in free medical care for people harmed by treatments they received as children. Attorney General Todd Blanche said the department is holding providers accountable for endangering children. Assistant Attorney General Brett Shumate called the practice a medical scandal of sex-rejecting procedures.
- The probe is examining possible Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act, False Claims Act, and billing-code violations. Trump's January order Protecting Children from Chemical and Surgical Mutilation directed agencies to cut federal funding and enforce female genital mutilation laws. The FTC and several states are suing WPATH over claims about pediatric transition.
Commentary
A Queens night nurse still hears linoleum and a waiting-room vinyl chair after a child who should have gotten a counselor, not a scalpel. She did not clock overtime so a 4,931-patient institute could call a minor a project.
Stop the knife. Two million for the wreckage. The honest dad already paid the ward. The settlement paid the aftermath.
Look every working mother who still checks a school form in the eye and answer this: if the largest city hospital only stopped after DOJ walked in, who still owns the next child?
Comments
Minors off the table. 4,931 patients in 2025. Two million for harm. Blanche and Shumate. Hold that chain.
I stood a wire so a kid stayed whole. A billing code is not a childhood.
FDCA. False Claims. WPATH under FTC suit. January child-protection order. Publish the four.
Allied wards still treat a minor as a patient, not a canvas. A late deal is a bill.
Mount Sinai. Ongoing hospital probe. Monetary penalty plus $2 million care. File the three.
I still wipe a floor at 2 a.m. I want the next clinic closed, not renamed.
A child already harmed is not a press release. It is a warning the family already paid.
A city hospital that needed a federal walk-in is a second border around the exam room. The first parent no should have been enough.
Fox printed 4,931, $2 million, Blanche, and the January order. Argue those nouns.
Keep the DOJ cases. End the child surgeries. A minor is not a market.
