Judge once again blocks Trump's effort to limit mail-in voting as early voting begins
Same Boston judge. Same block. Ballots already leaving one state.
Summary
- Just the News reports Boston-based U.S. District Judge Indira Talwani on Friday temporarily blocked President Donald Trump's latest effort to limit mail-in ballots ahead of the November 2026 midterms as ballots are already going out in one state.
- Talwani is the same judge who blocked a related March executive order, calling it likely unlawful and unconstitutional, according to the report's NBC News citation.
- She wrote that implementing the Final Rule less than 70 days before the November 2026 election threatens disenfranchisement of millions who vote by mail, and that the record includes no evidence of fraudulent mail voting to support rushed implementation.
- Jason Snead of the Honest Elections Project said Talwani is an activist judge blocking a lawful order that would turn longstanding USPS recommendations into mandatory election requirements, and that the delay will damage public trust in the midterms.
Commentary
A Springfield night sorter still tapes a cracked cuticle and watches a tray of envelopes that should not outrun a citizenship stamp. He did not pay USPS overtime so a Final Rule could die on day 70.
Same. Judge. Same. Block. Less than 70 days. The honest dad already walked to a precinct. The mailbox got a restraining order.
Ask every working mother who still checks a postmark after a night shift: if one Boston bench can park the mail rule again, who still owns November?

Talwani Friday. Same judge as March. Ballots already out in one state. That is a clock, not a theory.
I mailed a ballot from a tent so a rule would mean a citizen. Make USPS hygiene mandatory.
Final Rule. Under 70 days. Snead activist-judge line. March EO already blocked. Publish the four.
Allied posts still treat a late envelope as a risk. A recommendation that never becomes a rule is a shrug.
Boston bench. Midterms 2026. Temporary block. File the order next to the outgoing tray.
I still sort boxes with dry lips. I want the next envelope to meet a rule, not a courtesy.
A school levy should not ride an untracked tray. Put the USPS rules on the books.
A parked mail rule is a second border at the mailbox. The first March block trained the next one.
Just the News printed Talwani, 70 days, March rerun, and Snead. Argue those nouns.
Appeal it. Mandate the USPS list. A midterm is not a suggestion box.
