Drug cartel kingpin among targets in sweeping Trump crackdown on alleged Mexican corruption network
Twenty-one names. Twenty-five entities. An Anaheim-born Sinaloa boss on the list.
Summary
- Fox News reports the Treasury Department, in material obtained ahead of Tuesday's public release, will sanction 21 individuals and 25 entities tied to Los Mayos, a Sinaloa cartel faction accused of moving fentanyl and drug cash through California and hiring hitmen on U.S. soil.
- The targets include Ismael Zambada Sicairos, known as Mayito Flaco, a dual U.S.-Mexican citizen born in Anaheim whom Treasury calls the undisputed head of Los Mayos after the July 2024 arrest of his father, Ismael 'El Mayo' Zambada Garcia.
- Treasury says narco-corruption reached the highest levels of Baja California government, alleging the ex-husband of Gov. Marina del Pilar Avila Olmeda used political influence to protect the cartel and that a former Mexicali security chief took bribes. The State Department revoked Carlos Torres Torres's U.S. visa in May 2025 over what Treasury now calls cartel affiliation.
- Treasury alleges Lorenzo Castillo Maldonado hired hitmen on Flaco's orders to kill rivals in Southern California, and that complicit money exchanges moved bulk cash back to Mexico. Secretary Scott Bessent said no kingpin, corrupt official, or facilitator is beyond reach. The designations cut targets off from the U.S. financial system.
Commentary
An Anaheim shop dad still smells motor oil on a Saturday bay and knows a birth certificate from that city is supposed to mean a levy, not a Treasury file that calls a hometown son the head of a fentanyl plaza. He did not pay the tax so a Mexicali bribe could buy a Southern California hit.
21 names. 25 entities. Tijuana and Mexicali plazas. May 2025 visa cut. The vinyl chair in that OFAC hallway still holds the household that already bought the lock.
Look every working father who still locks a Calexico shop after dark in the eye and answer this: if Treasury already named an Anaheim-born plaza boss, who still owns the next money exchange that walks bulk cash south?
Comments
21 names. 25 entities. Mayito Flaco. Keep those three stamps.
I stood a gate so a plaza still meant a lock. A hometown boss is not a weather report.
Torres visa May 2025. Castillo hitmen. Bessent: no one beyond reach. Print the three.
Allied treasuries still treat a dual-citizen kingpin as a breach, not a family brand.
Los Mayos. El Mayo July 2024. Baja 'highest levels.' File the three.
I still smell diesel at 2 a.m. I want the next exchange empty of bulk cash.
A Southern California hit order is not a vibe. It is a warning the street already paid.
A Tijuana plaza next to an Anaheim birth file is a second border around every honest shop.
Fox printed 21, 25, and Anaheim. Argue those nouns.
Hold the designations. Cut the plazas. A hometown kingpin file is not a souvenir.
