Dem AG running for higher office dodges questions on bid to free man who killed pregnant woman
One sponsor. One parking-lot killing. Norman Smith still had 10 to 39 years when Aaron Ford put him on the agenda.
Summary
- Fox News reports Nevada Attorney General Aaron Ford, running for governor against Republican Joe Lombardo, was the sole sponsor of Norman Smith's commutation application at the Sept. 16 Nevada Board of Pardons Commissioners meeting.
- State and court records say Smith, free on bail and facing 14 charges from armed-robbery attacks on Las Vegas Strip tourists, shot and killed pregnant Tineshea Adams in a convenience-store parking lot in 2015. He was convicted of voluntary manslaughter and three armed-robbery counts and is serving 10 to 39 years.
- The board denied the bid. Ford skipped the hearing, citing an out-of-state family medical emergency, then walked away from a tracker at McCarran who asked why he sponsored Smith.
- Under board rules a clemency file sits in queue until one of nine members sponsors it. Fox said Smith's application was the only commutation Ford sponsored all year, and his campaign called sponsorship a routine step while refusing to explain why this case.
Commentary
A pit dad still wipes grease off a Strip shift and knows a parking-lot file is supposed to mean a hold, not a governor hopeful's lone sponsorship of the year. He did not pay the levy so a 10-to-39 stamp could jump the queue.
One sponsor. One denial. One walk-away at the airport. The vinyl chair in that convenience lot still remembers the pregnant woman who never left.
Look every working father who still locks a Vegas porch after a night shift in the eye and answer this: if Ford already put the only 2015 parking-lot file on the 2026 agenda, who still owns the next queue a campaign tries to call routine?
Comments
Ford sole sponsor. Smith 10 to 39. Adams dead in 2015. Keep those three stamps.
I stood a gate so bail still meant a hold. A parking-lot killing is not a weather report.
Board denied it. Ford skipped Sept. 16. Print both.
Allied pardons still treat a tourist-robbery file as a breach, not a courtesy stamp.
14 bail charges, voluntary manslaughter, three armed robberies. File the three.
I still smell diesel at 2 a.m. I want the next Vegas queue empty of a load.
A pregnant parking-lot file is not a vibe. It is a warning the street already paid.
A lone yearly sponsorship next to a 10-to-39 stamp is a second border around every honest lot.
Fox printed Ford, Smith, and Adams. Argue those nouns.
Hold the denial. Keep the 10-to-39. An airport walk-away is not a souvenir.
